The Foundation is managed by its officers (president, vice president, president-elect, immediate past president, secretary and treasurer) and the Board of Directors. New programs and projects are examined at the committee level and referred to the Board for action. Among our committees are the following:
Childhood Cancer Classic Committee: Plan and manage all strategic and logistical aspects of this annual golf fundraiser, including recommendations on timing, venue, pricing and related matters. Obtain business sponsors to underwrite the cost of the event.
Scholarships and Grants: Spearhead the Foundation’s charitable outreach by identifying candidates for academic scholarships and screening applications for grants from youth-serving organizations. Recommend appropriate recipients of Foundation grants for golf, baseball, hockey and other sports. Maintain ongoing liaison with partner agencies and fundraising beneficiaries.
Community Service: Plan and direct the Club’s community service activities.
Finance: Provide counsel and assistance to the treasurer as appropriate. Manage the investment of the Foundation’s funds to ensure an optimal return.
Fundraising: Seek financial support from area businesses, corporations, private foundations and wealthy individuals to help fund financial grants to various youth-serving agencies as well as the Foundation’s scholarship program. Cooperate with the committees responsible for planning, administering and conducting the Childhood Cancer Classic and the North Suburban Children’s Benefit. Plan and manage raffles, including the collection of goods and services and conduct of live and silent auctions.
Membership/Fellowship: Actively recruit well-qualified candidates for membership who share the Foundation’s commitment to helping young people and serving the community. Plan and manage recruiting dinners and orientation sessions for new members. Welcome members and guests to all meetings, and maintain contact with inactive members.
Program and Publicity: Schedule informative and entertaining programs for lunch and dinner meetings and recommend club outings and special events. Identify opportunities and implement activities to publicize Foundation events in area print and electronic media.
