Childhood Cancer Classic

The Optimist Club of Wilmette had staged an annual golf outing (primarily for members) for more than 40 years. In 2006, the Board voted to broaden participation in this event and use the proceeds to aid in the research and treatment of juvenile cancer, the No. 1 killer of those aged 1- 21.

In the first four years of the Childhood Cancer Classic, we generated more than $90,000 to benefit such organizations as Children’s Memorial Hospital, Children’s Oncology Services and Rush-Presbyterian Hospital. The 2010 event will be held on Monday, July 12 at Westmoreland Country Club, and our goal this year is to raise $25,000.
